Profile: HEAT - Interview with Tory Treseder ![]() Revolution (James): Heat is becoming one of the leading wheel companies in the industry.... What was your motivation to start a wheel company? Who are those involved with HEAT?
Revolution (James): We admire how you’ve developed an image for HEAT, and have always remained true to this image since you’ve started. Is the image a reflection of how you view skating personally or is it something else? Heat (Tory): Definitely, one of the most important aspects of skating to me always has been style, I think that's what makes our sport looks as great as it does. I obviously knew how I dressed, and what I thought looked good, so with the help of Sayer Danforth and his CG skills it all came together. Everyone as their own image of how they want things to look, so heat is how I see it! ![]() Revolution (James): Looking at the HEAT team, it seems like you are all really good friends, making you guys a close knit group. Who are the team riders? How do you feel about them representing HEAT? Heat (Tory): I think everyone in the industry knows how I feel about the guys, I hold them high in any kind of interview, or any talking I do with anyone, they are Heat in my eyes. Jeff Stockwell, James St. Ours, Erik Bailey, Micah Yeager, Sayer Danforth, and Oli Short are the best bunch of guys, and I couldn't see myself going into the year 2007 without them on board! They are truly my best friends, and incredibly hard workers as well! Revolution (James): This year it was great having the HEAT tour come thru Revolution, skaters were really happy to have the chance to skate/meet you guys. It was cool to follow the daily updates on be-mag.com as well. Looking back, tell us how the tour went overall?
Revolution (James): What was the craziest situation you encountered on the tour? Heat (Tory): Other than the drunken nights in Vegas, I'd have to hand it to our night in phoenix. We left your shop, and did the demo at the local park out there, then decided to go skate some street at ASU. French told us we could crash at his place, and to just call when we got finished. We didn't get done until about 2 or 3, and we decided to just grab a case of beer and crash out in some random park by my friend Justin's house. So we posted up there for the night in our sleeping bags. I woke up early early morning and walked over by the van because there was still a little shade from the damn early morning heat and fell asleep again. Few hours later I was awoke by a paramedic who apparently thought I was dead in the streets. I guess an old lady from across the way called thinking I had been murdered or some sh#t! Hahah It was a good laugh, and probably the best sleep all of got on the entire tour! Revolution (James): For your first team video, you chose Carl Sturgess to do the video, which is amazing. What made you want to work with Carl? How was it doing the video w/ him?
Revolution (James): What stands out most in
the video? The tour footage? A specific section?
Heat (Tory): I’ll let you guys decide, I have my favs, as I am sure all of you guys will too! Revolution (James): I know how difficult it is to maintain a balance with everything you’re involved with. On top of HEAT, you’re also on top of your skating game as well. What is a typical day like for you?
Revolution (James): Having met you personally, I understand why HEAT is so successful. HEAT just released the team video, and a HUGE holiday line. What can we expect to see this holiday from HEAT?
Revolution (James): What are your plans for 2007? Another tour? Last words.... Heat (Tory): I am hoping for another tour, I am gonna start filming for a new able section and we will see what happens after that. Cruising one thing at a time I guess, thanks for all your support revolution, you guys are doing great things, it was a pleasure stopping by during the tour, if we do another tour this year best believe we will roll through the AZ, you can give me a ride in your new hummer money bags!
